You’ve spent time on your homepage. You’ve written about your services. But when it comes to getting enquiries, something’s not clicking. It might be your contact page.
It’s often treated as an afterthought, but for service-based businesses, this is where the lead happens—or doesn’t. A confusing, slow, or badly written contact page can quietly kill your conversions.
Clear Contact Details Beat Fancy Forms
People want to know how to reach you. Simple as that. Don’t hide your phone number in an image. Don’t bury your email in a drop-down menu. Make your contact options visible and clear.
List your:
- Phone number (ideally clickable for mobile users)
- Email address
- Office or service area
- Business hours
- Google Map embed (only if relevant and accurate)
If you serve local areas, list them plainly. This supports local SEO and builds trust—especially important for trades, legal, and professional services. Learn more in our blog on SEO for tradespeople and local contractors.
Forms Should Be Short and Functional
The fewer fields, the better. If you’re asking for someone’s full address, budget, phone, and project description before they’ve even spoken to you, chances are they’ll close the tab.
Keep it to:
- Name
- Email or phone
- A short message box
You can follow up with more detail later. The first goal is just to start the conversation.
Load Speed Matters More Than You Think
A slow contact page is a bounce magnet. Test it on mobile. If it takes more than 3 seconds to load or the form glitches, it’s costing you enquiries.
In our post about site speed and SEO, we explain how even half a second can make a difference. And yes, this applies to your contact page too.
Make It Easy to Trust You
This is often overlooked. Add a short line that reassures them you’ll reply quickly. Mention how long it usually takes. Add a testimonial from someone who had a great experience. These small things nudge people to take action.
Don’t Hide Your Contact Page
It should be in the main menu, in your footer, and linked from your call-to-action buttons. If you’ve got service pages, make sure they point to the contact page naturally. We do this throughout our PPC agency content to reduce friction and boost conversions.
Your contact page doesn’t need to win awards. It just needs to work. If you’re getting visitors but not getting calls, this is a good place to start.
